I have not been reading your site for awhile and again I'm simply "blown away" by the extraordinary amount of detailed and interesting information on the topics you discuss.

However---
What am I missing here? ...regarding this quote from above blog:

"Why did the space station experience endless concept redesigns, political turbulence, a hefty $ 100 B price tag, and an unbelievable delay in its completion date from Reagan’s 1994 initial target to the actual date in 2011? …Only 17 years late!!"

"...actual date in 2011?"

Please explain, as obviously the space station is already in operation, and for quite a few years.

Hi Mary,

Thanks for your comment! Glad you enjoy 21stCenturyWaves.com !

ISS construction in orbit began in 1998 but it's actual completion date is expected in 2011. It's like being so excited about your new house, that you move in before it's finished!

Best regards...
Bruce

P.S. Nice middle name! :)

This blog fascinated me.. I toured the Reagan museum back in 2002, and indeed was surprised that there was nothing regarding the lab. I have to concur with your thoughts regarding the rules to remember.. I doubt we'll see much for a while to come.

I'm curious.. when I read material of this nature, I have to wonder about the person behind the pen. Especially their views of God's involvement in all this. What is your perspective?

Hi Pamela,
Thanks for your comments. Glad you enjoyed the post.

I got interested in these forecasting issues because I was trying to discover if we would ever go back to the Moon or on to Mars; in effect, whether the 1960s would ever come again.

Quite honestly, I was surprised at how clear the macroeconomic and historical signal of the last 200 years is. The last thing I would have expected is to see the Great Explorations, MEPs, and major wars line up near the dramatic, twice-per-century economic booms, but they do. To me as a scientist, this is an unusually interesting example of scientific forecasting.

I also happen to be a Christian, but frankly I don't have any special theological insights about the future. However, a few folks have privately mentioned to me that this work might have theological implications. While these ideas are certainly interesting, I don't discuss them here because I want to keep the approach on this site empirical.

Again, thanks for your interest.
Best regards,
Bruce
