I was wondering how long public opinion will stay with NASA, as it tends to shift faster than everyone's favorite star on American Idol. As far as Presidential candidates go, McCain seems to favor a human mission on Mars while Obama is more "cold" to the idea (although he does not mind using robots in space). Even though Congress has NASA's backing, the next presidential candidate can either nurture or nip America's space future, which will determine our ranking on the totem pole as far as space powers go.
